Breast Reduction

Many women come to Kaiser Permanente providers in Sacramento, Oakland, and throughout Northern California for breast reduction to help reduce back pain, neck pain, headaches, and posture issues caused by overly large breasts. While some women are born with a predisposition toward large, pendulous breasts, others experience enlargement and sagging after having children.

After breast reduction, you can usually engage in your favorite activities without any discomfort, confidently wear your desired clothes, and generally live and breathe without pain. At Kaiser Permanente, there are many breast reduction surgery options, and the right approach for you can help you achieve a healthier, more comfortable physique.

About the Procedure

Breast reduction surgery removes breast tissue and, oftentimes, a certain amount of skin to reduce the size of the breasts and improve their shape. This procedure typically requires a visible incision and has the potential to cause some scarring. During your consultation, you and your surgeon will discuss your desired breast size and shape during your consultation. Breast size and shape, as well as skin texture and nipple viability, are all factors you and your doctor will consider when determining the appropriate procedure for your needs and desired result.

Often, a breast lift is performed in conjunction with breast reduction to help create the results envisioned by the patient.

In many cases, the results of breast reduction can last for a long time.
