About Me

Having spent most of my life in California, I have been a Kaiser Permanente member for many years. I was pleased to become a Kaiser Permanente physician in 2007 when I joined the Plastic Surgery practice at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco and Redwood City.

My practice incorporates the two key facets of plastic surgery: cosmetic/aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Having completed a microvascular surgery fellowship at Stanford University, I have a special interest in autologous breast reconstruction (for example, using a patient’s own abdominal tissue to reconstruct a breast via the so-called “DIEP” or “muscle-sparing TRAM” flap).

Prior to that, I completed a seven-year residency program that encompassed plastic and general surgery at UC Davis, in addition to wound healing research at the Children’s Surgical Research Lab at Stanford. My interest in medical research stems from my undergraduate and medical school studies, both at UCLA. Along the way, I spent time studying breast cancer at the National Institutes of Health as a Howard Hughes researcher.
