About Me

I obtained my medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. I then completed an internship and a residency in both general surgery and then plastic surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. I am board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition to English, I speak Hebrew and some modest Spanish.

In addition to my clinical duties at Kaiser Permanente, I also assist start-up companies in research and development with medical products designed to improve surgical outcomes.

As a surgeon, I understand our potential to do great good, as well as the potential for complications. I try to emphasize that just because we CAN do a surgical procedure does not imply that we SHOULD. The assessment of risk versus benefit must play a front-and-center role in the decision to operate – well before the gloves are donned.

Roles and Responsibilities

Although my passion is the pursuit of excellence in plastic and reconstructive surgery, I also serve as Chief of the Departments of General, Vascular, and Plastic Surgery. The role gives me an opportunity to bring new talent and new capabilities to our already outstanding group of surgeons and staff. Keeping you comfortable after surgery is very important to us. Your physicians, nurses and other care givers will work together to ensure that your pain is addressed and treated as effectively and as safely as possible.

My Staff

Sometimes patients are surprised when they begin to understand just how much our staff is invested in making the health care experience as excellent and comfortable as possible. No one goes into this field without an idealistic nature for helping others, and a feeling of fulfillment when patients express their satisfaction with their care. Our staff is remarkably dedicated to that goal, which ultimately means that they are dedicated to you,

My Colleagues

The surgeons at San Jose Kaiser Permanente are a multi-specialty group that, by design reside, in the same building so that we constantly interact and entice each other to new levels of excellence. It allows almost unmatchable collaboration in cross-specialty efforts such as in our comprehensive breast clinic, trauma, complex wounds, and other areas of surgical care.

Family and Friends

In my personal life, I am the father of triplets and party to the inherent family circus that comes with such a surprise.
