I had always wanted to pursue a career in medicine, but it was not until medical school at Stanford University that I realized I wanted to be a dermatologist. The visual aspect of the field greatly appealed to me; in what other field can you diagnose a medical condition without use of any tools other than your eyes? The way our skin looks can highly impact self confidence and the way we interact with others, and the ability to make a real impact on people’s day to day lives as a dermatologist makes this field extremely rewarding.
I grew up in the Bay Area and I have been a Kaiser Permanente patient for nearly my whole life. Kaiser Permanente care teams have taken care of all of my family members in the inpatient and the outpatient settings. As a medical student, I completed medical rotations at Kaiser Permanente hospitals. After I completed my dermatology residency at New York University, I wanted to return to Kaiser Permanente as an Associate Physician to give back to a community that has taken such good care of my family, and me, for decades. My practice philosophy has always been aligned with that of Kaiser Permanente’s – dedication to preventative care and focus on caring for the whole individual. I am honored to have the opportunity to help treat your skin as your dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente!

Family and Friends
Born to Taiwanese immigrants, I have lived in the Bay Area for over three decades, with two stints in New York City for a medical journalism fellowship during medical school and for dermatology residency. I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Hobbies and interests
Outside of the hospital, I am very interested in the use of social media platforms to educate the public about medicine and skincare. I enjoy blogging, traveling, hiking, photography, and continuing to explore California’s great outdoors.
