About Me

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and attended Northwestern University where I graduated with my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. I received my Medical Degree from the University of Illinois in 1983, where I was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. I completed my first year of residency in General Surgery at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals. I then moved to Los Angeles to complete my General Surgery training at UCLA. My residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery was also completed at UCLA, where I was awarded the Chief Resident Teaching Award.

After completing my residency, my wife and I moved to Detroit, Michigan for my wife’s medical training. While in Michigan, I was a Senior Staff Physician at Henry Ford Hospital, a University of Michigan Affiliate Hospital. I was actively involved in the hospital’s residency teaching program and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award. We moved back to California based on my wife’s glorious memories of her undergraduate years at Stanford University. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1993.
